Misfit Strength (& Circus!) Studio is looking to add another personal trainer to our team.

We value

Competence: continually working to understand more, communicate more clearly, and be the best we can be at our jobs.

Education: not necessarily a degree, but continuing to learn and grow.

Equity: in training (we all have different needs), in employment, and in life.

Transparency: no information is proprietary or secret.

We are looking for someone who shares our values, who is continually learning, and who cares about helping people get the results they want safely and in a way that improves their overall health. We are a small studio, so trainers are expected to take on additional responsibilities in the business. Job requirements include personal training, teaching small group personal training classes, some front desk hours, competent use of our scheduling & billing software, and social media posting/promotions. You have the opportunity to grow into your own area of expertise here, offering specialized classes and other services as they fit with our space availability and values.

We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and respected. We believe that a diversity of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives is essential to our success. We encourage applications from all racial & ethnic backgrounds, gender identities, sexual orientations, and physical abilities.

Ideal candidates have:

  • Minimum of 5 years personal training experience

  • Early morning and Sunday availability

  • Ability to self promote and help bring on your own training clients

  • Completed at least 3 related educational courses beyond your initial personal training certification

Encouraged but not required:

  • Circus coaching experience

  • Education on working with pregnant & postpartum people

  • Kilo Strength and/or Muscle Nerds continuing education courses

  • The Circus Doc continuing education courses

  • Ability to speak languages that are common in the White Center community, such as Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Pacific Islander languages

If you feel like this job would be a good fit but you don’t meet all of the requirements, please apply! We care more about finding the right person than checking off requirement boxes.

Compensation varies depending on experience and job being performed. Pay starts at $25/hr for office work and $40/hr for personal training and classes. After working with us for 1 year, you have the option to become an employee owner. We are anti-capitalist and believe in sharing profit so that everyone can survive in our expensive society.
